Art 1 & 2

Open to all grade levels

This course is designed as a general introduction to the visual arts.  For some students it will satisfy their high school graduation requirement of one year of fine arts.  For others it will be a springboard for more advanced art courses and may satisfy a requirement for college admission.

It is important for students to understand that this class will challenge them in a variety of ways.  The program is based on four major components:

1) Creative Expression                          2) Cultural and Historical Heritage

3) Art Criticism                                     4) Aesthetics

Other goals are: to help students improve their Self-Confidence, Observation and Listening Skills, Vocabulary, Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving skills.  Meeting Deadlines, working cooperatively with other students and Developing a respect and awareness of other cultures are integral parts of the class.
